A little update

I decided it was time to update since I will be heading back to work in 2 weeks and life will be even more crazy!! I am actually looking forward to heading back to work- I have never been good at staying home, as much as I whine about being a working mom, I don't think I could do the 'stay at home mom' thing for very long.

Connor is such a sweet boy, but he is NOT a good little sleeper. He takes about four 20 minute (yes, only 20 minute) naps during the day and still wakes about 3 times per night... he is a little chunk- complete opposite of Carson!

Steve and I just returned from a 3 day 'adult time' trip to Vegas, it was so nice! I really missed my boys but needed the few days to recharge! Thanks Nanna and Pappa for always taking care of the boys when needed!!

Welcome baby Connor Wesley Zimmerman, born 11/09/09 at 2:24pm, 7lb12oz & 20 inches. Our family is doing well and enjoying time together. Carson loves his baby brother and is very protective of him. Any time Connor cries, Carson is right by his side telling him "It's ok Connor!" With our new addition, we're just trying to adjust to life with two children.

Ever since our trip to the pumpkin patch and Carson's death grip on the bunny he has talked about bunnies and I have considered getting him one... so while we were out trick or treating at the stores yesterday in a moment of insanity I bought him a bunny! He is so cute!! His name is BeBo- BeBo is a word that Carson used to always say and we could never figure out what it meant. He would use it in a phrase to tell us what he wanted, but we never figured it out... so it's bunny's new name. Carson loves him, but I think I love him more :) Here's a few pics of BeBo and of Carson as the doctor for Halloween.

The family members who don't have facebook have been asking for pictures...so I decided to post some pics of our pumpkin patch fun.

The baby is due in the next few weeks, but I am currently dilated to 3 cm and contracting pretty frequently- so I am hoping it will be soon! I am feeling/looking HUGE!! I am sure once baby comes I will think about how easy I have it now- but I am miserable!

I don't know what has gotten into Carson lately but he is on the verge of driving Steve and I to the looney bin!

Carson has been throwing spitting and screaming fits about EVERYTHING! He literally will spit all over himself over things like the ball not being in the exact position he wants it in. A few days ago he threw a fit from the time he woke up to the time he finally went to sleep.

We have tried 'time out' in the naughty chair, he has gotten a spanking and we have tried just totally ignoring him. Time out seems to just enrage him even more. The spanking worked well for a few minutes, but I feel like I am a hipocrite when I spank him and tell him not to hit immediately afterwards.

I am so anxious to see what his behavior is going to turn into when the baby comes... if he thinks he's starving for attention now- he is in for a rude awakening! We are trying to enroll him in a preschool/childcare program a couple days a week where he can be exposed to other children and get acquainted with not having the adult's undivided attention!

Any advice on how to deal with this 'phase' would be greatly appreciated!!

Thanks for reminding me to update Kristy-- it's been a busy week for sure!!

First of all, Carson's surgery was successful!! He officially is through it and doing well! It was very stressful right after his surgery, we were in the room immediately after he woke up from anesthesia and he kept choking and holding his breath. I picked him up and held him in my arms- at first he just melted into me, then he got painful and started thrashing around and at one time he held his breath from the pain until his lips turned blue and his oxygen level dropped to 68% (should be 100%)... so I freaked and grabbed the oxygen mask from the nurse's hand... thankfully it only lasted seconds until they gave him some iv pain medicine. Kids are so brave a resiliant... he has bounced back beautifully! He only needed pain medication in the first 24 hours and he has adjusted very well. The area is still bruised but looks great!!

I had 10 days off work to 'take care' of Carson and since he has recovered so well we have had a busy few days! Steve and my 5 year anniversary was 5/22 so we tried to spend time together and celebrate on Sunday by spending the night at Kah neeta- Steve went golfing while I got pampered at the spa- it was much needed relaxation for both of us!

We took the boat out on Friday and Carson had a blast!! He absolutely loves the water and the boat! He wants to drive it all the time and sits in my lap saying 'weee' the whole time! Here's some boat pics:

ps. I am currently 15 weeks pregnant, Steve is still adamant about not finding out the sex of the baby, we'll see if I can stick to it in a couple weeks at the ultrasound appt. :)

Surgery

As many of you might remember- when Carson was about 4 mos old the drs discussed him needing surgery to rebuild his tubule that holds his testicle. Well... the time has come and we are going to send our little guy into surgery on May 19th. He also has a hernia in the same area- so the surgery will consist of fixing the hernia, reconstructing the tubule, and circumcision revision (because it was NOT done right). Our poor little bubba's man parts are a mess :)

Think lots of happy thoughts and send prayers our way on the 19th- I am REALLY nervous!! Today at the dr's office I was getting my blood drawn and I burst into tears talking to the nurse about it! (OK, some of the emotion is crazy pregnancy emotion) I really wish at a time like this that I did not work in the healthcare industry and was not exposed to the things that could happen. I have such empathy for parents whose children spend so much time in and out of the hospital- I feel so blessed that we have not had to deal with this on a greater level!!

Sorry its been so long since we've updated the site. Lots of fun and exciting times in the Zimmerman household. In case you havent already heard, we are expecting our 2nd baby this November. Im trying to convince Tiffany to wait it out until birth to find out what it is. So far, she has agreed...but lets see if she's still in agreement once she is capable of knowing.

We're now living in Prineville OR and slowing adjusting to a completely different style of living. Its quite a culture shock when you're so used to having a Target, Safeway, Fred Meyer or Mall around. When McDonalds is the town's local hang out, you know you're in stickville. However, thanks to our very helpful and supportive family, they are making the transition worth while.

This was a few weeks back after washing the cars. Carson thought it would be fun to splash around in the mud puddles....every little boy's dream. In case you need a Carson translation...in the video he is saying "eee, orrr". Translation, 'three, four'. Its his way of saying "one, two, three..." and throwing the ball.

It's official... We're moving (again!)

Well, as many of you might know we have had a large turn of events in the last few months! Steve's job has been a roller coaster lately! It has been a week to week possibility that he might not even have a job! During all of this we conemplated moving to central Oregon to be close to my family and live what we call 'the simpler life.' I ended up applying for a couple RN postitions but after the largest healthcare employer announced that they were affected by the economy and in a 'hiring freeze.... I figured it was a sign that we weren't suppose to move.

Then... a week ago I got a call that I was invited to an interview at Bend Memorial Clinic urgent care, during the interview they asked me to help write new protocols for faster patient care and aid in some admin decisions/implementations. I pretty shocked since I am still considered a 'young' nurse- but I put a lot of thought into it and everything started falling into place! Right before I left for my interview Steve's job offered him a secure position in another department where he will be working from home everyday- so here we are getting ready to move to Bend :)

For the time being we are going to move into one of my grandparent's rental properties in Prineville until we figure out what to do with our home in Vancouver. Right now our plan is to keep our home and rent it out... we got our house for a great interest rate and hope to keep it as an investment and or somewhere we can come back to if we have to.

I know this is a LOOOONG story, but a lot has happened for our family in the last month and we hope this will bring a new beginning for our family. We are excited to expose Carson to things I got to do as a child like: fishing, riding atv's, riding horses and living life at a slower pace :)

It has been almost 2 weeks of snow here in the Northwest- CRAZY!! I absolutely love it!! We went to every store in the Vancouver area looking for a sled and they are out everywhere!! So, we fashioned our own sled out of the changing table that sits on top of the pack n' play. We tied some rope to it and... ta dah!

Steve, Dad, Miranda, Carson and I decided to take advantage of the deep snow and build a snowman... Mr. E-I-E-I-O (as Carson called him). He was lots of fun to make and I hope he stays around for a while :)

We have been getting some good snow here in Vancouver this week! It has been so fun to watch Carson explore in the snow. He will go to the window and say "woah." We took him to see the lights at PIR last night and the whole time it was "woah" it's his version of "wow."

I hope the snow stays through next week, but I am not holding my breath.

Christmas Tree Time!

We were very excited to pick out a Chrsitmas tree this year for a few reasons:

1. We actually have room for it in our new home!

2. Carson might just enjoy it this year!

3. And... Christmas is at our home this year!! Yay!

The weather was pretty yucky! It was really foggy and a little cold... very typical for November in Washington. Carson had sooo much fun! He loved running around in the mud and grabbing all the trees he could reach! By the time we were done and loaded in the car we were all VERY muddy! Carson threw a fit when he had to get back in the car- so he was kicking clumps of mud all over the Blazer! Oh well... everything cleans up- eventually!

We absolutely love our new home! I really like being in Vancouver- I feel like I never have to be on the freeway anymore- ahhhh!!

Halloween was a lot fun this year! Although Carson did not dig the whole 'trick or treating' thing. He wanted to run in the street more than anything else and every door we went to (only 3) he would start crying... the final straw was when he saw a guy with a pumpkin on his head (yes... a real pumpkin) he freaked out and we decided enough was enough! When we got home he loved opening and shutting the door for all the trick or treaters- so that was exciting for him!

Later in the evening Steve and I got to go to Sharon's husband's show- her husband is the lead singer for Pristine Blue... they are awesome! Steve and I had a lot of fun! But, we were so busy that we did not dress up :( Next year I am definately dressing up!!

Oh yeah, I almost forgot... in a moment of insanity I got a puppy!!! Her name is Maddy and she is a mixture of a shih tzu and a mini daschaund. She is very sweet, but A LOT of work! Despite how it looks in the pictures Carson loves her!

Carson was a ninja and Maddy was a bumble bee :) Check out Steve's pumpkin- he worked so hard on it! It took him 3 hours to complete :) But, it looked really good (for a first-timer)

I will start with the wonderful news that one of my best friends- Gena had a beautiful baby girl on Monday. Her name is Lexington and she is just adorable!!

Next, Carson got to go to a second pumpkin patch! One of my other best friends- Sharon and her sweet family were heading to the pumpkin patch last weekend and we got to share in the fun! Carson LOVED the real horsies and the little horsie ride- he would not get off that thing the whole time!

Finally, today we got to see family that we haven't seen in YEARS! We got to spend the day with Erin and her sweet boys, Cheryl, Eric and Stewart and Heather!! We met at the Portland Zoo and had such a great day! Thanks Erin for letting us come along- can't wait to go shopping next week :)

Pumpkin Patch

This month has definately been a whirlwind!! We got home from a wonderful trip to Playa del Carmen and moved the following day! Thankfully, my dad, grandma and grandpa, Waz and Eric were all eager to jump in and help- we are so thankful for them!!!

Mexico was so nice! The weather the first couple days was not great... it rained- but was HOT! Both Steve and I got burned really bad the first day because it was so cloudy we just ignored the fact the UV rays were still in full force! We also had a hard time relaxing being away from Carson and knowing we had to come back to the move. Fortunately, the jacuzzi tub, the beautiful beach and the massages helped us to relax and enjoy each other for a week. It was a much needed rest and now we can enjoy our family in our new home in Vancouver :)

The entrance to the hotel, it was really beautiful! We visited the Mayan ruins and the "homes" were amazing, it is so crazy that humans once lived here! The views were breathtaking from the top of the caves!

House update

So, I guess all my whining payed off :) We got an offer on the house right after I posted about showing it all the time- and finally found a house in Vancouver! We have a very busy and hectic couple weeks ahead! We leave for Playa del Carmen Mexico next Thursday and we have to be out of our house 3 days after we get back! Steve and I are excited for vacation... hopefully we can relax. We are going to miss Carson like crazy- he will be staying with Grandma Caudle. Here's some new pics of Carson... no, he's not potty trained yet- but he likes to practice!

Our house is STILL on the market... going on 13 months now- yuck!! Anyways, lately there has been a surge of showings, I don't know why- but it is a pain!

On Monday I was sleeping because I worked Sunday night (11pm to 8am) and at noon I had a call from the Realtor that a client was coming to look @ the house in 1/2 hour. Which means I have to get out of bed and run around cleaning all to be out in 1/2 hour-- UGH! Then, today the realtor called to see if we could show the house at 2pm, I asked if they could bump it to 3pm so I have time to clean and get Carson some lunch before we are rushed out of the house... the realtor tells me they have an appt @ 3, so I agree to 2. I run around like a chicken with my head cut off, get Carson fed quickly and rush out the door... I drive back into the driveway @ 3pm and take Carson up to bed for a nap... guess who comes to the door-- the realtor!! He says "oh sorry we are running a little late!" I asked him if he could just bring his clients thru with Carson and I still in the house and he replies that his clients don't feel comfortable with us in the house- WHAT!!? You are shooing me out of my own home?? So, I get Carson out of bed and leave AGAIN all to hear that they aren't interested- UGH!!!!!
If we don't sell this house soon I am going to go crazy!

Urology update

Well, Carson had an appt today and not so good news... his testicle is "trapped" and has to be surgically fixed. The dr wanted to go ahead and schedule the surgery for the end of the month because it increases Carson's chances for normal sperm production and testosterone production... but the anesthesia risks decrease after the age of 2, so we decided to wait until then. Who needs testosterone anyways?? :)
On a serious level, I am already having butterflies in my stomach about the surgery. I have seen one too many "medical mistake" videos in my line of work!!
I am definately counting my blessings though because we have two sets of friends who's children are battling leukemia and bonemarrow transplants :( This is small potatos compared to that!

I know I haven't updated in a while, but nothing really exciting has happend around the Zimmerman house lately. We spent the day at the fair yesterday and here are a few pictures to share. Carson had a blast!! He absolutely loves outdoors and animals!

Swimming, camping and the children's museum

We have had a full couple of weeks lately. First, I will update on all my drama with work. Since I signed a contract for 2.5 years of full-time in the Emergency dept, they made me transfer out if I dropped down to part-time... so, I start in labor and delivery tomorrow. I am actually pretty excited! I only have to work 2 days per week (the best part) and I am looking forward to working in a happier environment! I am so sick of changing postitions though-- I want to stay in this position for a LONG time!

Next, we drove our new wonderful car, 2008 Acura TL on a "road trip" to Kahneeta and spent the day with dad and Miranda swimming.

We also went camping with grandma and grandpa Caudle, dad, miranda, and Blakely and Brennan... we went out in the woods with a small creek that ran through the camp site, it was really nice and relaxing- but it's nice to be home with clean clothes and a SHOWER!

Finally, today we went to the Children's Museum here in Portland... for the first time. Carson absolutely loved it! He was finally in a place that it is ok to get into everything... and he did!

Busy, Busy...

It has been a busy couple of weeks for the family!! First of all, I can't explain how wonderful it has been going to work only 2 days per week!!! I have been having such a great time with Carson during the day. Last night Steve came home from the gym at 8:30pm and I was vaccuming and mopping the floors. Steve told me he loves "part-time Tiffany"... our home is finally somewhat kept up and groceries are actually in the cupboard :)

Carson and I were able to go to Prineville last week for 5 whole days! We went to Miranda's graduation and spent lots of time with the family- it was really nice.

Carson had to make an emergency trip to the dentist on Tuesday. He fell off our bed and hit is mouth on the end-table... I know the question is where was I?? Well, this child is too fast for me! I turned to grab his diaper off my dresser and he was gone. Luckily, everything is fine- no stitches and no loose teeth.

Family update... finally!

I can't believe it has almost been a whole month since I last posted!! Things have been a little stressful lately around the Zimmerman household. First, Carson went through a period where he wouldn't eat and he was really fussy (which is unlike him)! Carson lost over a pound and he is really small for his age anyways! Grandma Caudle came up to our house to spend lots of one-on-one time with Carson and let him stay home instead of going to the babysitters. We really like our babysitter, but she has her own 7 month old daughter who take a lot of her attention and Carson is not use to sharing attention!!
The caviat to this story is that I have been BEGGING to go part-time at work and since I signed a two year contract I am obligated to work full time. I have gone through all the channels and hopefully I will be able to go part time after June 10th- but I might not be in the Emergency room anymore :( They just don't understand that my family takes priority!!
Carson is walking and talking now!! He jabbers ALL day long! He non-stop talks and it's pretty funny! We have a video of him "cussing out" Steve and I in baby words!

Family update

Hello everybody, sorry I haven't posted in a while... same story of lots of work and not a lot of free time :( We did take some time as a family last weekend and went to the beach. The weekend before it was 70+ degrees, so we decided to take a first overnight family trip with Carson. The weather was awful!! It was a mix of snow and rain (yeah, SNOW at the beach) and Carson was not so happy! I learned that I needed to experience a toddler in a small hotel room to know that it is not something I want to do again for a while! Carson has started walking and the room was too small for him to be able to get anywhere. He would not eat because he didn't have his chair and he would not sleep because he wasn't in his crib :) We took him swimming, which was the highlight of the weekend for Carson. Carson has been "cruising" now for a while. He walks between furniture and holding onto our fingers. He was doing really good last week "before his birthday" walking without holding onto anything and taking about 10-12 steps until he would sit down. Well, he ended up getting sick with croup and fever for about 4 days and since then I think he hasn't had the energy... but here is a video of his attempt to walk.

Carson had a WONDERFUL birthday! It was a whole weekend affair! We started out by going swimming with Carson's friends on Saturday and finished with a family party at our house on Sunday. Here's some pictures to share:

Family Update!

There has been lots of fun at the Zimmerman household lately!! Carson is spoiled rotten!! He got a new Radio Flyer horsie to ride from Grandma and Grandpa Caudle. He absolutely loves it!
We also had a few nice days here in Portland and had the chance to try out the bike trailer... Carson didn't love it so much! He wasn't sure what to think. Hopefully by the end of the summer he will be lovin' it!

Last but not least, I was cleaning the house preparing to show our house to some prespective buyers and I walked into the bathroom (Carson is in the living room all innocent) and this is what I find:

So, as everybody knows by now, I am a nurse at a local emergency room and I see all sorts of mothers and children and I am sorry to say that most of the time I judge the moms for being too protective of their children when they are sick. I even had an experience where a mom cried when I was taking her baby's temp... well, I have officially been on the other end of the spectrum. On Saturday night around 11pm Carson started crying in bed and I sent Steve in for a "binky run" and poor Carson had thrown up all over his crib. After 4 hours of vomiting I made the executive decision to take him to the ER (where I happen to work). When we walked through the door at the ER (@ 3am) Carson was back to his happy self playing patty-cake with the other nurses and flashing smiles to everyone. I looked like the paranoid mother who freaks out when her child has any ache or pain :) Thankfully, Carson feels better, after a few bouts of diarrhea and not eating too well- he's almost back to normal!!

I have been sooo terribly busy and stressed lately that I actually sent out Carson's b-day invites with the wrong date on them... OOPS! So, Carson's b-day party is Saturday, April 5th (not the 6th). The funny thing about is that I created the invites TWICE because the first batch Carson had red eye and looked like a little devil. Well, that is how our week has been, hope everyone is doing well!!

I can't believe my baby is turning one year old soon!! We ordered invitations and arranged for a party at the indoor aquatic park... Carson LOVES to swim! I am excited for Carson to be able to play with all of our friends' children!

Carson hasn't started at the babysitters yet, he starts on Tuesday. It is definately going to be hard the first few times dropping him off at someone's house that isn't family. I talked to my work about dropping my hours and they said I might be able to go down to 30 hours per week (any little bit helps I guess).

Zimmerman update

Hello everybody!!! We have been really busy the last few weeks!! I will start from the top... Steve and I were lucky enough to spend the weekend at Mt. Hood snowboarding and getting massages, it was wonderful! It was definately much needed relaxation for the both of us!

Steve and Carson have been fighting some icky cold and congestion. Both of them have been coughing like crazy and Carson has been having bouts of crankyness :)

Finally, Grandma Gail decided to take a full time job out of the house, so we went on the search for someone to watch Carson over the last couple weeks. Grandma Caudle came up to help us with the search and watch Carson in the mean time. After going from daycare center to daycare center we were frustrated and exhausted, but we were blessed to find a wonderful lady to watch Carson. We found a stay at home mom who has worked with children in the school system and as a foster parent for many years, she is LDS and has a 6 month old girl (who Carson loves). She is really sweet and seems like she will really care for our baby! We feel relieved!!!

Snow Day!!!

We had a very random and unexpected day of snow today. And since we hadn't taken any good pictures of Carson in snow, we decided to take advantage of the opportunity while we had the chance. Carson is all over the place now. He loves his walk-a-long toy. He pushes it across the entire house like a shopping cart. Its amazing to think that he just began crawling 1 month ago and now he's already taking steps. He's only a little more balance away from walking on his own without holding on to something.

Aren't I just a little ham? I have a smile and I know how to use it. And boy does he. He's almost 10 months old and he already has us wrapped around his little finger.

In case you were wondering how I was doing, my first day in the ER was one I will never forget and I dont mean that in a good way. Unfortunately, I cant go into details, but lets just say it brought tears to my eyes.
Yeah, I know this is an old pic, but its the most recent I have of my boys. Steve has just been working a lot and trying to get back in shape. Getting in shape this year is one of our main objectives, along with moving back to vancouver. Finding the perfect house has proven to be quite a challenge. There are so many more variables now that Carson is in the picture; nice/clean/friendly neighborhood, good schools, big yard, enough square footage for possible family expansion, granite, hardwoods, etc etc etc.

We'll keep everyone up to date on our progress. We'd love to hear from you.

Lately, life has been pretty hectic! We didn't end up getting our dream house :( The way everything ended up we were one day late with our offer. But, we have since found another great house and are still planning on renting our house out. Along with all that "fun" I started my new job in the ER. In the one week I have been there I have seen some crazy stuff! (unfortuately I cannot share). I am doing a six month training in the ER, so I will be rotating through classes, certifications, and 12 hour shifts- yuck!

Carson is doing really good! He is sooo mobile now! He crawls and scoots between furniture like crazy! He can pull up on furniture and stand, but he can't quite walk around it yet.

We will keep everyone updated and look forward to hearing from you!!

This last weekend Holly, Miranda and I spent the weekend at Mt. Bachelor. Dad got us a weekend stay at Inn at the seventh Mountain resort for Christmas. We had such a good time!! Our room was fabulous- we had a two story suite with a loft and a huge balcony where you can see most of the mountain!! We shopped, ate and snowboarded! It was definately a time that I will cherish.In the steamy hot tub! There was snow all around us.

I am sure everyone has seen those sappy jewelry commercials during Christmas time... well, I get a big kick out of them because the women in the commercials are portrayed as such idiots!! Anyways, I was feeding Carson and watching one of the commercials, when the commercial was over I said "oh please!" and Carson started cracking up laughing. He kept laughing for literally 10 minutes everytime I would say "oh please!" I just caught the end of it- but it's pretty funny:

Carson had so much fun unwrapping presents and eating the paper and boxes!! Santa brought Carson lots of fun gifts... he is officially spoiled from both sets of grandparents :)

Steve, Miranda and I were lucky enough to get to go snowboarding at Mt. Bachelor on Christmas eve, it was the first time I have been for almost 2 years since I was pregnant last year. We had so much fun!!

So, as if the Christmas season hussle and bussle isn't stressful enough, we have definately added to it this year!! We have decided to take our house off the market and attempt to rent it out. We made this decision for a few reasons. The first being that it could be a great long term investment, the second is that we found the house of our dreams in Washington. It's on a hill that overlooks the Columbia River and has cherry hardwood floors, granite counter tops, floor to celing windows and is layed out like a lake house!! We love everything about the house- especially the deal we could potentially get if everything goes as planned!
Needless to say, we have been pretty stressed out lately! This morning Steve woke up telling me about an expense he forgot to mention last night and I looked at the clock- it was 7 am. I told him it was way too early to start with the house talk... but unfortunatley it is consuming us right now.
I am so thankful for all of our many blessings and I have faith that what is meant to be will be... I just wish it would "be" soon :)

Zoo Lights!!

We took Carson and ventured out to the zoo to check out the Christmas lights. Steve and I had a "discussion" before we left on whether Carson would appreciate the lights or not. I, of course said that he would love it!! Carson decided to prove me wrong :( He loved the lights for the first 15 minutes, after that he wanted to go home and sleep. So, we bundled him up in his stroller and let him sleep through the fun. We rode the train and saw some really neat lights including elephants, alligators, and monkeys all made from lights!

So, all the "books" say this is the time to start teaching your child "no" (8 to 9 months). This is hard for me because up until now, Carson hasn't done anything to deserve a "no." Lately, he has been testing me! Today I decided to try it out, he was going straight for the computer cord to put it in his mouth... I sternly looked Carson in the eye and said "Carson, NO" he looked at me and cracked up laughing! Well, that went well!! Later, he was being impossible to dress by trying to turn over while I change him, so once again I looked at him and turned him back on his back and said "NO".... once again he looked at me and cracked up laughing!!! GREAT! I am already beaten down by my child :)

Last but not least, I did get the ER job!! YAY! (I think) So, I will start at the end of January. I am pretty excited to be in the ER, I have always been interested in the "emergency" aspect of nursing with the blood and intensity! I am just not too excited about being at work 40 hours per week -yuck!

Holly came over this week to help us with some family pictures for our Christmas cards (cutting it close- I know). They turned out pretty cute, even though Carson refused to cooperate. Everytime the camera was close to him, he would close his eyes and scrunch up his face. Here's a couple pics to share:

We got into the Christmas spirit this week and also picked out a Christmas tree. Grandma Caudle was staying with us for a couple weeks so she came with us to find our tree. It was actually snowing when we went, but since it's Portland it didn't stick :(

I had a job interview today for an emergency room position at SW medical center in Vancouver. I am pretty excited about it. It would be a two year commitment for full time which is not the greatest... but it is right down the street from Grandma Gail!!

Steve came home last night with guitar hero for the playstation 3, and I am officially addicted!! So, I thought I would share with you what a dork I am! I had no idea Steve was recording me until the end of the song. (Also, I had just gotten back from the gym- so I look beautiful!)

I am not starting this blog with "so, I know I haven't posted in a while" because Steve says that is how I start every blog :)

The news of the week is that Carson's first tooth finally came through! He was a little fussy and not his normal happy self, then we went grocery shopping and when he was in his carseat in the basket he grabbed my hand and chomped down on my finger- ouch! I couldn't believe there was a little tooth in there!

Grandma and Grandpa Caudle came home from California-- yay! They couldn't wait to see Carson so they have him in Prineville for a couple days. It will be nice for me so I can get my house ready for guests at Thanksgiving. This will be my first Thanksgiving dinner at my own home, I am pretty excited. Thanks for checking in!!

I know I haven't updated in a few days but I am STILL sick!! I called the Dr and they said they won't prescribe me an antibiotic until I have been sick for over 10 days- uggh! So, I am going on day 8 now... and I swear to never get a flu shot again! I haven't gotten one in a couple years and this year everyone at work talked me into it. I know that it weakens your immune system allowing you to catch crap that I got; and just to prove my theory- Steve hasn't gotten it yet! Carson had a bit of a sore throat, it was sad... he would swallow and make an "ouchie" face and cry. Luckily it only lasted a day or so (knock on wood).

Carson holds his own bottle now!!! But, only when HE decides it's a good idea. He still wants to be cuddled and fed, but every once in a while he will grab the bottle and drink the whole thing all by himself! Also, he sits up now and loves it! I guess all I had to do was tell how behind he was and he figured out how to accomplish all these new things just to prove that he can.

Here's a few of the pictures we got las week!! They turned out really cute! It was a last minute decision to get his picture taken, I was at Babys-r-us getting some gifts for showers and I decided to get Carson's six month pics taken. They are pretty casual, but I love them! I am really sick right now-- uggh!! I have a sore throat, headache, cough.. all the works! I told Steve that I feel bad because I only have a cold and I feel like I am dying, yet I take care of very sick people all the time who don't complain as much as I do. I will be a better nurse now!! (and a better wife who doesn't complain so much)

Carson was Mickey Mouse for Halloween!! Well... not for very long because he hated to wear the ears and the gloves! We went to Grandma Gail's house for dinner and pictures. Carson was being really cranky so we didn't get very many pics. He actually stayed the night at grandma's house that night :) Unfortunately both Steve and I had to work the next day so we weren't able to take advantage of the opportunity to sleep in. On the days off we have together (like today) we argue about who's turn it is to wake up with Carson, this morning it was 5 am :(

This weekend Carson and I went to Amie's house for her baby shower. There was a little girl there who was born April 7th and oh boy.... she was going circles around little Carson. She was crawling, sitting by herself and holding her own bottle! Carson can only sit up for a few seconds by himself and he scoots in circles (not crawls) and he is not interested in holding his own bottle! So, Steve and I (as first time parents) are like "why can't Carson do all that?" I know it's all individual, but every parent wants their child to do everything earlier than their peers :) It was an interesting experience to see Carson interacting with all the children there, it was pretty much the first time he had been around other babies and was able to interact with them.

We still haven't sold our house :( not even close- we have only showed it a few times. It's sooo discouraging! The market sucks!! Hopefully soon we will be able to move closer to Grandma Gail!

Oh by the way... the Starbucks cup was empty by the time Carson got ahold of it. It was pretty cute though :)

Sorry for not updating in a while, I have been thrown into real life again after vacation with work and Carson. Work is going good, it's really hard... hopefully I will lose some weight because I run all day long! I hate leaving and coming home when it's dark- 12 hour shifts are really long, but it's worth it when a patient is grateful and appreciates your care.

Carson is still not crawling but is closer everyday. He still goes around in circles and backwards. He has also perfected his scream, it seems to get louder and louder everyday! He sits in his high chair now like a big boy! He is actually 14lbs now and 27 inches long! It's hard to find clothes that fit him because he is tall and skinny.

Steve is going to the Oregon USC game this weekend with my dad, Carson and I are going to stay home and get lots of rest :)

Back from Hawaii

Well... I decided to change blogs because we were running out of room on the babysites. We are back from vacation now :( It's funny because when you are actually on vacation you don't realize how nice and relaxing it is until you come home to real life.

We went with some friends (Dan and Stacy) and stayed in a condo in Kehei Maui. It was nice, right on the beach, but I did miss the maid service of hotels. It's not fun to have to do housework on vacation.

Carson was not crawling when we came home... but he was playing patty cake and going in circles on his belly. Also, he is wonderfully loud now! He loves to tighten up all his muscles and scream- then he just smiles. I have been working the last three days so I am exhausted! I will share more stories after some sleep :)
